T N R ( Trap / Neuter / Return)
This is a kitten saved withTNR.
This kitten was adopted.
This is what we are about.
Trap, Neuter, Release is a humane way to reduce the growing number of feral, or free roaming cats in the United States. The estimated number of feral cats in the U.S. could be as many as 50 million.
The cats are trapped using a humane, box style trap and food as bait. The cats are usually fed in the same area and at the same time over a period of time so the cats come on a regular basis. This makes it much easier to set the traps with food in them to catch the cats. Once the cats are caught, they are taken to a safe, secure location to await transport to get spayed/neutered by a liscenced veternarian. Once the cats are ready to go, they are released back to their outdoor home and the caregiver will then continuously supply food and water and care.
By having these cats go through our TNR Program, they will not only be reducing and stabilizing the population, but will also reduce the noise, fighting, and spraying done by cats. Also, each cat will have their left ear tipped, so that it is slightly flat on top. This is to help identify each cat in our program and to clarify which cats have already been fixed. This will also help if the cat is picked up by Animal Control so they will know this cat is in a program and is with a healthy group.
